Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card Course) CPCWHS1001

This nationally recognised course, commonly known as the White Card course, is mandatory for anyone working in the Australian construction industry. It equips participants with the essential knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, risk management practices, and safe work procedures. Successful completion allows participants to apply for a White Card, which is a legal requirement to access and work on construction sites.

Learning Objectives

By completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand workplace health and safety legislative requirements.
  • Identify common construction hazards and implement risk control measures.
  • Recognise and follow safe work practices.
  • Understand roles, responsibilities, and communication processes on-site.
  • Correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Respond appropriately to workplace incidents and emergencies.

Course Content

  • Introduction to WHS legislation and responsibilities.
  • Hazard identification and risk management.
  • Construction site safety signage and communication.
  • Safe work practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Use of PPE and safe manual handling.
  • Emergency response and incident reporting.

Assessment

Assessment includes:

  • Written and/or oral knowledge assessment.
  • Practical participation in class activities and demonstrations.
  • Verification of understanding of WHS requirements.

Certification

Participants who meet the assessment and enrolment requirements will receive a Statement of Attainment from Halo Nation Training Pty Ltd (RTO 32485) for Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card Course) CPCWHS1001.

Attendance or payment does not guarantee a competent assessment result. Any site authorisation or other applicable licensing requirements must also be met.

Course Duration

Scheduled duration: 1 Day. The booking confirmation will set out the delivery schedule and any pre-course preparation. Additional training or assessment may be required according to participant needs and the applicable training and assessment requirements; any additional time or fees will be discussed before agreement.

Prerequisites

  • Must be at least 14 years of age (check state/territory requirements).
  • Basic English literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Participants must bring valid photo identification.
  • Appropriate PPE (e.g., enclosed footwear) may be required.

Prices shown are per participant for Perth company group bookings. Minimum group charges apply even if fewer people attend. If a trainer flies to site, the maximum class size is charged. Your written quote will confirm the total, applicable GST, administration, travel and any requested VOC or additional assessment costs. Full payment is due at least five business days before training, or on confirmation for shorter-notice bookings.

For high risk work licence courses, successful assessment does not itself issue a licence. Participants must meet WorkSafe WA’s requirements and lodge their application within the required period, generally within 60 days of the Notice of Assessment. Optional ASTS application assistance is $120 plus GST per participant, including a passport photograph. Your quote will confirm what this service includes and any separate regulator application fee.
